...then nights 5 and 6 of Mom's vacation came.

For as good as the first few days were, the last 2 nights were...not so good. Apologies if this is too graphic/TMI.

Night 5
I finish reading Hudson bedtime stories, and we approach the crib. Out comes projectile vomit all over him. We start heading towards the bathroom, and another shower erupts. It hardly fazed the H-man one bit. I was expecting a buddy to arrive any minute to hangout and was fazed quite a bit! It all had to happen at once- change PJs, clean him up, open up windows, clean vomit from all over floors, carpet, sheets, walls, doors, get him some water, bedtime routine part deuce, etc. etc.

So I call daycare the next day, slightly perturbed at them (unjustified), and slightly perturbed at myself for the big-picture decision to have him there in the first place. I hear on the phone, "Oh yeah, he might have caught the bug that was going around a week or so ago." Great.

I had to take pictures as I thought "Juliet is not going to believe this!" and "She said she wanted updates!"

Night 6
A new babysitter is coming over to sit while I head to a going-away party in SF. At 3:30 on a bike ride with H I start to feel weird....dehydrated? I pound water and at 5 start getting very nauseous. I arrange a ride into the city. 6 rolls around and its only getting worse. The bath is filling for Hudson and I puke. 6:45 now and there is no way I'm going out. I contemplate how much to pay the new babysitter for her wasted time, hoping she'll come back. 7 she arrives, I fill her in, she declines cash. I try to say goodbye while profusely apologizing, as sweat starts trickling down my forehead and I am about to loose it.
I run to the bathroom, holding Hudson on the tile floor, and loose it. Kept my composure in front of him, but that was hard. I felt like the baby while recalling how unfazed he was the night before. Bedtime stories were read by a shivering dad who was sweating. Not fun.

In the end I have had a blast going on adventures, playing, and spending quality time with Hudson while Juliet's gone. Priceless experiences with the best guy I have ever met. However, when I pick him up from daycare he is super invigorated, chatty, confident, and outgoing. It gives me confidence he is in a good place and very stimulated during the day. Even if there is a price to pay every once in a while.

Great times buddy!
